Drive west from Main on a Wednesday in July and you cross two different versions of Belgrade inside ten minutes. At 104 Bandana Street, the parking lot of the new Rosauers is full at six in the evening, and a Chase Bank shell is going up next door. Loop back to Broadway a mile east and the street is closed to cars, a food truck line is forming, and a Tom Petty tribute band is running a soundcheck under the trees.
Both scenes are new. Together they answer a question longtime residents have been asking each other for a year: where is this town actually going. What actually opened on Jackrabbit
The anchor moved on June 24. Rosauers held the grand opening of its newly built 58,000-square-foot store at 104 Bandana Street in the Foundry development, and the differentiating features include a tortilleria making fresh four-ingredient tortillas daily. The prepared-food footprint is bigger than what Belgrade has had before. The store also carries a signature scratch bakery turning out doughnuts, artisan breads, cakes and sweets, freshly rolled sushi made daily, a pizza, burrito and taco bar, and a Huckleberry's natural and organic store-within-the-store with thousands of items.
