Welcome to The Barn District
The Barn District is a unique redevelopment project in Gallatin Valley that SO-RED helped shape from concept to completion. This project revolved around preserving two historic barns while converting them into functional commercial spaces that honor the area’s agrarian history. SO-RED’s deep understanding of local culture and history allowed them to integrate these elements into a modern development that resonates with the community.
The Barn District now stands as a symbol of the harmonious blend of Bozeman’s past and present, offering both residents and visitors a space that is culturally significant and practically useful. Bozeman’s economic and architectural past are rooted in agriculture. Today, the Barn District celebrates Bozeman roots by preserving agrarian architecture and developing new buildings that give a nod to the past.
Two historic barns were relocated to this site nearly two decades ago, and a third was built in 2005. This cross-generational place is new, vibrant, and offers 20,000 square feet of space for a mixed-use community hub. The larger barn, known as “The Big White Bar,n” is home to
Captains and Cowboys. The
Hop Lounge is located in the second barn.
Bozeman Children’s Academy sits in the building west of the Big Barn and The Garage is in the building to the south of the little barn.
